US House Passed Bill Adding to the Burden of People with Disabilities
In February 2018 the US House of Representatives passed a bill that changes the Americans With Disabilities Act, putting more of the burden on people with disabilities. The changes require citizens to know exactly which part of the law a business is breaking and provide legal notice. Activists claim that the changes remove incentives for businesses to comply with the law before a lawsuit is filed. Placing a greater burden on people with disabilities defeats the purpose of alleviating access that the original law demanded. The changes in this bill marginalize people with disabilities.
