TX Library Calls Police on Black Graduate Student
A black Texas graduate student was asked to leave a public library by both the library manager and the police. The student visits libraries regularly to observe story time as part of her graduate studies. As someone who has applied to volunteer for story time, she was not a stranger to this library; yet, she was accused of trespassing due to an unwritten rule about adults attending story time without a child. This is an example of institutionalized racism as it is part of a trend of black people having the police called on them for doing nothing wrong.
