TX Corrections Officers Misused Disability Placards for Convenience

In September 2018 an investigation revealed that multiple corrections officers working at a Texas detention facility repeatedly used disability placards and disabled veteran license plates intended for others to park close to the facility. The misuse of these placards and license plates caused disabled people who need access to these parking spaces to park further out, risking their health. This is an example of ableism, as people without disabilities took advantage of people with disabilities for their own personal convenience.
