Trans Asylum Seeker Beaten in ICE Custody before Her Death

In November 2018 an autopsy report was released for a trans woman of color seven months after her death; the report showed she was beaten in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody before she died. The woman was seeking asylum due to anti-LGBTQ violence in her home country. This is an example of transphobia as trans people in ICE custody face violence and denial of healthcare services at higher rates.
