IN Bullied Autistic Child Handcuffed by Police Officer

In October 2017 an Indiana police officer handcuffed an autistic nine year old. The father of the child, who took video and posted it online, said that the child was a victim of bullying and was defending himself after his complaints to school authorities had been ignored. The criminalization of a bullied autistic child is an example of ableism, as other measures could have been taken to comfort and protect the child without involving a police officer.
