ID Youth Soccer Coach Received Racist Message
In January 2018, a youth soccer coach in Idaho received a racist letter regarding his majority POC soccer team. The letter was placed on his car while parked at his home address. Racial slurs tell people of color that they are not welcome in public spaces. When directed toward children, these messages can be internalized, contributing to a sense of self as being unworthy or feelings of anxiety. Some research studies show that racial slurs can lead to negative health effects, and may be a contributing factor in health disparities between black and white people.
