HUD Removes Citizen Protections from New Mission Statement

A March 2018 memo reveals that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development is removing sustainability, consumer protection, and anti-discrimination from its mission statement. The new mission statement shows that protecting citizens from discrimination and unfair practices, as well as protecting our environment, are no longer priorities. Poor people, people of color, LGBTQ people, and others could lose protections when the agency that is designed to enforce those protections doesn’t.
