GA Police Officer Used Excessive Force on Homeless Black Woman
In June 2017 a Georgia police officer used excessive force on a homeless black woman who may suffer from mental illness. The department only reopened the case for review after bystander footage was released. The use of force should be reserved for those who pose a violent risk toward an officer or bystander. The risk of excessive force increases for people of color and those suffering mental illness. Such use of state violence toward certain groups of people oppresses them.
